PUNE: Marriott Hotels India Pvt Ltd announces on Monday that the operating contract for the Courtyard Marriott Pune by the brand would be terminated.

A statement, which the company issued says, “Marriott Hotels India Pvt Ltd and Neo Capricorn Plaza Pvt Ltd have mutually agreed to terminate the operating contract for the Courtyard by Marriott Pune City Centre hotel. The hotel which is located near Jehangir Hospital has been operated by Marriott since July 2011. The last day of Marriott’s operation will be June 10, 2016.”

Although, the reason behind this sudden exit has not been cleared yet. Marriott has been given a lengthy questionnaire asking why it has taken such a big move. But, no substantive response was given back.

“We have shared the official statement on this development. We do not have any further comments to give,” said Khushnooma Kapadia, director of marketing and communications, Marriott India.

“Marriott Hotels and Neo Capricorn would like to assure their customers and Marriott Rewards members that the transition will be smooth and seamless with all commitments being honoured,” the statement said, adding that Neo Capricorn, as owner, is also committed to ensuring that all assurances made to the employees and any other associated parties shall be honoured until the last day of operation.

When asked, if this means that after June 10 onwards the hotel will down its shutter or if there would be any employment loss, Kapadia said, “Unfortunately, we cannot share any more information than we have shared in the official statement.”
