Not on 27th January, because it’s National Chocolate Cake Day. The perfect time to indulge yourself and your loved ones with lots of creamy and yummy slices of the desserts that are only prepared with chocolate. Now, after knowing about this day, you must try something at home to give a pleasant surprise to your children.

There are many ideas to celebrate this day and out of them, we are going to introduce one such way that gives a big smile on everyone’s face in your family. Required ingredients for cake layers

  • 6 tbsp of fine-quality semisweet Chocolate
  • 1-1/2 cups of hot Brewed Coffee
  • 3 cups of Sugar
  • 2-1/2 cups of All-purpose flour (Maida)
  • 1-1/2 cups of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp of Baking Soda
  • ¾ tsp of Baking Powder
  • 1-1/4 tsp of Salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup of Vegetable Oil
  • 1-1/2 cups of well-shaken Buttermilk
  • ¾ tsp of Vanilla

Required ingredients for Frosting

  • 5 cups of fine-quality semisweet Chocolate
  • 1 cup of Heavy Cream
  • 2 tbsp of Sugar
  • 2 tbsp of Light Corn Syrup
  • ¼ cup of Unsalted Buttermilk

Directions

  • Before starting the process, first preheat the oven to 300°F and grease pans.
  • Finely chop chocolate in a bowl and mix with hot coffee. Let mixture constant, stirring occasionally, till chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Combine sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Take an another large bowl and beat eggs with the help of an electric mixer, till thickened slightly and lemon colored.
  • Slowly add oil, buttermilk, vanilla and melted chocolate mixture to eggs, beating until combined well.
  • Now, add sugar mixture and beat on medium speed, till just combined well.
  • Put this batter into the greased pans and bake in middle of oven, until a tester inserted in center comes out clean.
  • After that, cool the layers completely in pans on racks. Run a thin knife around edges of pans and invert layer onto racks. Cake layers may be prepared 1 day ahead and kept, wrapped well in plastic wrap at room temperature.
  • To prepare frosting, finely chop chocolate and mix cream, sugar and corn syrup in a bowl.
  • Boil it over moderately low heat, whisking till sugar is dissolved.
  • Now, remove the bowl from the gas and add chocolate. Beat, until the chocolate is melted.
  • Cut butter into small cubes and add to frosting, whisking till smooth.
  • Transfer frosting to a bowl and cool it.
  • After that spread it between cake layers and on top and sides. Keep the cake cover and chill around 3 days.
  • Before you serve it, make sure it’s brought to room temperature.
