IHG

The world famous hospitality group, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is planning to expand its India presence by opening more hotels in the next three to five years. At present, the group is operating 25 hotels with 4,000 rooms across 14 Indian cities. And recently, one more property has been added to the list, which was the opening of the first luxury beach resort with 105 rooms under the IGH banner in Chennai. Now, IHG is focusing on its new plan that includes the set up of 51 hotels with 10,000 rooms.

IHG Head of South West Asia, Mr. Shanta de Silva said that,

“IHG follows asset light model and focus was on managing the properties rather than investing in it. Currently, the new projects were in different stages of development-design, planning and construction”.

He further stated,

“During the current year, IHG would open four hotels that included three in India and one in Bangladesh. Within the next 10-15 years, the idea was to have at least 150 hotels in India”.

Currently, there are three properties of IHG, located in Chennai namely, Adyar Gate Hotels under the Crowne Plaza brand, Holiday Inn Express at Mahindra World City and IGH resort at Mamallapuram. With the opening of Holiday Inn at Tidel Park, Chennai will become the first city in the country to have all the four brands.

In the year of 2015, the company sets six hotels and has four lined up for this year and its pipeline currently has more Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
