Hyundai Motor India

Hyundai has marked the second position for itself and much like Maruti, it has also clocked the highest sales figure ever. The biggest reason for it’s success has been the launch of Creta which kind of changed the game for the company. This financial year, the brand was able to enjoy a domestic sales of 484,324 units that means it has gained 15.1% of growth rate as compared to the previous year. In March alone, it had sold 41,201 units that helped it to level up the growth rate by 4.24%.

Mahindra & Mahindra

After a double digit decline consecutively from the last two years, this time Mahindra has finally made its way to success with a 6% rise in the total domestic passenger vehicle sales. The company launched 9 products in the fiscal year 2015-16 so as to strengthen its grip on the market with the likes of TUV300 and KUV100. Some more famous Mahindra models are:

In the fiscal year 2015-16, Mahindra & Mahindra succeeded in selling 236,307 units in the total domestic passenger vehicle with a 6% growth rate. Honda Cars India

Honda is yet another popular automobile brand which has scored the fourth position among all the brands this fiscal year. Even though the company has come down from 22,696 units sold in March 2015 to 17,430 units in March 2016 but still it has retained its spot in the list of most popular car brands. The annual domestic sale by Honda has recorded a sale of 192,059 units in 2015-16 duration with a 2% growth rate from the previous fiscal year. In March 2016, 17,340 units were sold with Honda City gaining the lead of 5,662 units followed by 5,223 units of Amaze and 3,683 units of Jazz.

Renault India

Over the last few year Renault has emerged as a potential ruler in the Indian auto market particularly because of the Duster model. Later, it came up with Kwid easily succeeded in winning the hearts of customers with its feature loaded SUV-ish stance. Recently, the automaker had also launched the same with a 1 litre AMT variant in order to encash its popularity. Renault is known for its two most popular cars namely:

the monthly domestic sales of Renault reached to 12,424 units in March 2016 and went on to register a growth of 160%. On a cumulative basis, it sold 29,289 units during January-March 2016 which was just 11,404 units in the previous year. This helped the brand to score a growth of 157%. and that’s not all. Kwid also registered its name in the top 10 passenger vehicles in the month of February 2016.

Apart from the aforementioned top 5 car companies, there are still many other brands which need to be notified in this list. Mentioned below is the list of some more automakers along with their performance in terms of sales.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors hasn’t been performing up to the expectations from the last few years but still it has a valuable position in the auto market. In order to re-gain its lost position, the automaker has discontinued the non-performing models and has come up with some facelift versions as well. Recently, it has launched the all new Tata Tiago in the hatchback segment which is doing well for the brand. Other Tata cars that have got appreciation are:

In the passenger vehicle segment, the company has sold 8,454 units which was 15,039 units last year and hence has declined to 44%. If we talk about the month of March 2016 it sold 6,876 units which is 47% less than the sales in March 2015.

This is yet another Japanese company that has achieved a lot of success in India in the recent past. Its Camry model is being sold with a hybrid powertrain and is quite famous among the masses especially because it doesn’t create any harmful emissions. Overall, the company has faced a decline in sales by 42% mainly because of the diesel vehicle ban in New Delhi owing to the rising air pollution. It had sold 13,333 units in March 2015 which came down to 7,637 units in March 2016. Despite the loss, Camry was able to gain 46% growth rate in the year 2015-16 as compared to the year 2014-15.

Ford India

Be it any body style, Ford is quite a charmer among all other car brands. No one could forget how EcoSport had achieved a landmark position in terms of sales. Then the brand came up with Aspire, a highly affordable sedan followed by the facelift version of Figo that gave a tough fight to all other hatchbacks in the segment. In terms of sales, Ford has gained a significant amount of growth with the sales of 21,198 units in March 2016 as compared to the sale of 15,775 units in the same month last year. Nissan Motor India

Nissan is a famous Japanese car brand which works in alliance with Renault and is known for its cars in the global market. In India, the automaker has sold 4,378 units in the month March 2016 which was 4,717 units in March 2015. With this, it had to go through a decline of 339 units i.e. a loss of 7.19%. The most famous car under this brand is Micra, while others are as follows:

It has sold 3,570 units in March 2016 while last year in the same month it had sold 4,577 units.
