Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS –

The first ever hybrid car by Maruti Suzuki, Ciaz sedan features the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology. This new hybrid technology uses the Integrated starter Generator (ISG) to increase the working efficiency of the engine and hence offers an improved fuel mileage.

The powertrain of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS includes a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine that generates the maximum power of 89 bhp and the peak torque of 200 Nm. The mill is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and offers Maruti Suzuki claimed fuel efficiency of 28.09 kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga SHVS –

The second largest selling car of the MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) segment in India, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga also offered with the brand’s hybrid powertrain SHVS with the diesel motor.

With this innovative technology, the 7-seater Ertiga offers a company rated fuel mileage of 24.52 kmpl. Though, the MUV gets the similar specs under the hood that of the Ciaz and gives the same power and torque output.

Mahindra Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid –

County’s homegrown auto manufacturer, Mahindra and Mahindra introduced its much-anticipated SUV, Scorpio in 2.2-litre mHAWK engine with Intelli-Hybrid technology after the diesel ban in Delhi NCR hit its market worst. Later, the maker also came up with a 1.99-lire mHAWK motor featuring the same hybrid technology. Besides reducing the CO2 emission, the technology also boosts the fuel mileage of the car.

Mahindra claims that its smart intelli-hybrid technology help in reducing the fuel consumption up to 7 percent and hence, offers better mileage. This innovative theory assists the engine with the electrical energy during acceleration and switches off the engine if vehicle standstills for more than 3 seconds and again starts the engine by simply pressing the clutch.

Toyota Camry Hybrid –

Toyota’s mid-luxury hybrid sedan, Camry was introduced a while back in India and recently received a price cut under the Government of India’s FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of hybrid and Electric vehicles) scheme. The Toyota Camry hybrid is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol mill which is further connected to a 143 PS electric motor and produces a combined power output of 205 PS along with the maximum torque of 270 Nm. The hybrid configuration of the mill is governed by an electrically operated CVT unit.

The highlight of the Camry is the Hybrid Synergy Drive which enables the driver to switch over electric mode from petrol and vice versa. The car gets to driving modes namely, Eco and Evo mode. Toyota offers the Camry hybrid in a single variant and claims a fuel economy of 19.16 kmpl.

Honda Accord Hybrid –

Recently, Honda Car India launched the Accord Sedan with the hybrid powertrain, which will be brought in the country via CBU (Complete Built Unit) route. Although, the Hybrid Accord is more expansive than its rival, the Camry Hybrid, but offers a number of first-in-class features and keeps the occupant’s safety at the top priority.

Volvo’s new XC90 Excellence T8 Plug-in Hybrid is top-of-the-league SUV offered by the brand in India. Under the hood, it features a 2.0-litre Supercharged Turbocharged petrol unit and a 9.2 kWh Lithium-ion battery, and pumps out the combined power output of 402 PS along with the maximum torque of 640 Nm.

BMW i8 –

BMW’s futuristic i8 electric cum hybrid car was introduced in early 2014 Auto Expo India and became a legend in the electric segment. The i8 features a 1.5-litre inline 3-cylinder arrangement along with a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery and produces a combined power output of 357 PS and a combined torque of 320 Nm.bmw-i8

The mechanical setup delivers power to the rear wheels, while the front wheels are driven by the electric battery setup. The battery can be fully charged within 4 hours. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and boosts the car to 100 kmph from a standstill in just 4.4 seconds. BMW i8 claims a fuel mileage of 47.45 kmpl for the futuristic i8 car.

Mahindra Electric introduced the new 4-door e2o plus a few months ago. The pure electric car uses a 72V battery pack which is capable of driving the car up to 140 kilometers on a single charge. The battery takes 9 hours to charge fully. The battery package drives the motor with the maximum power output of 41 hp and 91 Nm of peak torque. The motor is further coupled with a standard automatic drive transmission. The next-gen e2o has a top speed of 85 kmph.

Mahindra eVerito –

The first ever pure electric sedan in India, Mahindra eVerito comes with a 72V battery pack and has a company claimed driving range of 110 kilometers on a single charge. The EV has a top speed of 86 kmph.

The drivetrain includes a lithium-ion battery pack which can be fully charged in just 1 hour and 45 min through a faster-charging technology (additional cost charger) and 8 hours if charged via standard charging system.
