The year 2018 started with Auto Expo and we saw many launches, showcase, and concepts cars during the show. Many brands assembled on a single platform and showed the future of Indian cars in the market. In the first half of the year, a big number of launches take place and there are many more for upcoming years and months. More exciting, the May launches are also on the way to reach us soon. Without wasting much of your time, let’s jump into an acknowledgment of the cars going or expect to launch in May 2018.

1. Jeep Wrangler 2018

The company is likely to introduce the fourth-gen Wrangler cv (JL series) in India soon, near about the festive season. The Wrangler is available in the USA, Russia, China and expected to launch in Europe around September 2018. It will reach the country in CBU unit. The new Jeep Wrangler will get important updates considering powertrain options.

The India-spec Wrangler is likely to take a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a new 2.2-litre diesel engine options, and both mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

2. Honda CR-V 2018

The 5th-gen Honda CR-V launched at the Auto Expo 2018. It is likely to be introduced in the country in the FY 2018-19 in line with the tenth-gen Civic and the second-gen Amaze. The Honda CR-V will use the same platform with the Civic and powered by a 1.6-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engines.

It is the first time when the CR-V in India will get a 7-seater cabin and a diesel engine. Further, it will also get auto boot-lid, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 7-inch infotainment system, and LED headlamps. It will compete the upcoming Skoda Karoq, Hyundai Tucson, and the Jeep Compass. It is expected to be priced at approximately Rs 25 lakh.

3. Maruti Grand Vitara

Suzuki Grand Vitara S was introduced in the UK with 1.4-liter BoosterJet engine. Previously, the car was spotted while testing in Noida, India as well. It has a resemblance with the obsolete Grand Vitara which is available in India. Considering exterior, it obtains understated lower air dam, projector headlamps, clamshell bonnet, indented tail lamps, large graphite alloy wheels, chrome grille, and a contrasting roof.

In Europe, it is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.6-litre petrol engine generating a peak power of 120 bhp and 1.6-litre diesel engine generating a peak torque of 320 Nm. With a diesel engine, it paired to a 6-speed manual choice and petrol option, it gets a 6-speed automatic and 5-speed manual options.

4. Mahindra S 201

The Mahindra-and-Mahindra is likely to launch this new SUV by 2018 end. Mahindra S 201 will take inspiration from the SsangYong Tivoli displayed at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo along with updated rear and front detailing. The Mahindra S201 will obtain features such as multiple airbags, LED tail lamps, projector headlamps, 7-inch infotainment system, all four disc brakes, and dual-zone climate control.

The Mahindra S201 is likely to get a turbocharged 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 7 lakh – 10 lakh.

5. Mahindra Marazzo (Launch)

Mahindra has condemned initially the MPV as U321. it takes inspiration from a Basque word for a shark and officially named as the Marazzo.

It will fill the gap of compact MPVs such as Toyota Innova Crysta (Rs 14 lakh) and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (Rs 9 lakh) in India. The MPV will be introduced in India by September 2018 and available in 8-seater and 7-seater variants.
