Only one day is left in celebrating the RepublicI Day and since the last 15 days, several preparations have been going on at schools, colleges, government offices and other places too. Whenever we hear the word “Indian Republic”, itself feel the proud and freedom as it’s a very important day for the Indians so, to being an Indian, you should enjoy this day with the great enthusiasm. Generally, we celebrate all the festivals with some special food and Republic Day is our national festival therefore it should also be celebrated by preparing the delicacies with the theme of our national flag color.

In the previous blog, we have already shared the recipe of Tiranga Sandwich, and now our next recipe, which is again inspired from the national flag, “Tricolor Peda”, sweet and delicious Indian dessert. Quick and easy to prepare with the fun of food colors that really interesting during its preparation. Let’s begin with the recipe of Tricolor Peda.

Recipe of Tricolor Peda for this Republic Day:

Required Ingredients

  • 250 gm Ricotta cheese (Italian cheese)
  • 1 cup of Milk powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp of ghee
  • ½ cup Thick Cream
  • 1 tsp of Cardamom Powder (ilachi)
  • A few Saffron Threads
  • ¼ cup of Almond (crushed)
  • ¼ cup pistachio (crushed)
  • Few drops of Natural Food Color (green and orange)

Procedure

  • Heat the ghee in a pan or a wok (kadai) over the medium flame.
  • Add cheese, milk powder and cream. Mix properly and keep stirring continuously so that, it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan or a wok (kadai).
  • Now, add the sugar and stirring continuously until, all the ingredients combine together.
  • The mixture should be like cookie dough, so you can roll out into a shape easily.
  • Divide the mixture into 3 equal parts and add cardamom powder in the first part.
  • Add saffron and orange color in the second and in third, add green color along with pistachio powder.
  • Bend all the three parts properly.
  • Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  • Take out small out of each mixture and roll them out into circular shape.
  • Join together into a cylindrical shape.
  • Finally, cut into small pieces and make round Peda.
