The compact SUV is powered by a 1.6-liter petrol motor develops 123PS of power and 151Nm of torque. Price starts at Rs 9.2 lakh with the top-end variant available at Rs 14.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Tata Harrier has been launched at an exciting price range of Rs 12.69 lakh to Rs 16.25 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and is now out for delivery in four variants viz, XE, XM, XT, and XZ, powered by 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that generates 140PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. Transmission option consists of a 6-speed manual. It is facilitated with the three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport, and multiple terrain response modes, i.e. Normal, Wet and Rough. The infotainment system comprises an 8.8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch multi-info display in the instrument cluster. Both of these gives navigation info and supports music, trip meter, and tachometer. The car is equipped with a cooled storage compartment to provide space for mobile phones underneath the front armrest along with LED and projector headlamps.

Mahindra XUV300

Mahindra XUV300 is a mini subcompact SUV recently launched in India at a decent price tag of INR 7.91 lakh (Petrol) and 8.49 lakh (Diesel) ex-showroom respectively. The car 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The XUV300 is based on the popular SsangYong Tivoli platform which has been further marked for the Indian market. The car competes with the ongoing Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Creta.

Nissan Kicks recently got unveiled in India and will be based on the B0 platform as that of Terrano. It is set to compete with the Hyundai Creta and the Renault capture in the segment. Designed and developed in the Nissan Design Centre and will be manufactured in Chennai. It will be available in both petrol and diesel variant while the petrol version gets the 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine churning 103 bhp, on the other hand, the diesel engine will be 1.5 liters giving out two sets of power i.e. 84 bhp and 108 bhp.

Tata Hexa

Tata Hexa launched in the Indian Market from 1 January 2018. Priced between Rs 12.57 lakh and Rs 17.97 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), Tata Hexa is made available in seven variants i.e, XE, XM, XMA, XM+, XT, XTA and XT 4×4.About the Engine, the Hexa is offered in 2.2-liter VARICOR diesel engine variant. The XE variant, which is the base variant, produces 150PS of power and 320Nm of torque and rest all other variants offers 156PS and 400Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is offered on all variants of HEXA while the XM and XT variants are also available with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 4×4 option is offered only on the top-spec XT variant. It has ARAI-tested fuel efficiency mark of 17.6kmpl. The Hexa is featured laden. Its SUV is made available with drive modes, projector headlamps, automatic headlamps, LED DRLs, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, mood lighting etc. For safety, there are six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with rollover mitigation, Traction Control System, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Hill Hold Control (HHC) and ABS with EBD. Tata Hexas’ major rivals are Toyota Innova Crysta, Mahindra XUV500 and Mahindra Marazzo in the Indian Market.

Mahindra Scorpio is one of the most demanding and performance SUV in the Indian SUV segment. In its journey in the SUV world, it has won various awards and recognitions such as “Best SUV of the Year” and “Best Car of the Year” from the popular BBC automobile magazine “World Wheels”. Facing tough competition from the Renault Duster, Scorpio still manages to find a better position in the Indian market. The 3rd generation Scorpio got introduced in 2014. The updated feature of  Maruti S-Cross comprises of a speed alert system, seatbelt reminder for driver and co-passenger and rear parking sensors and is coming with a price hike of Rs 54,000 and is now priced at Rs 8.85 lakh-Rs 11.45 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It is now coming in a 1.3-liter diesel engine option and not a 1.6-liter diesel engine. The 1.3-liter diesel supports Suzuki’s mild-hybrid SHVS tech. The S-Cross facelift delivers a mileage of 25.1kmpl. Ground clearance reading is 137mm (laden), a result of a bigger set of wheels. This time it comes loaded up to brim all around with an all-LED headlamp, leather upholstery, cruise control, a 60:40 split rear seats and lastly a 7-inch infotainment system having Android Auto connectivity. Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha are the four variants. The Hyundai Creta, the Renault Captur Renault Duster are the arch-rivals.

Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass petrol-AT, price availability is from Rs 18.9 lakh onwards in the mid-spec Longitude (O) variant. Priced between Rs 15.39 lakh to Rs 22.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is available in four variants viz. Sport, Longitude, Limited and Limited Plus. It comprises two engines: a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine (163PS/250 Nm) and a 2.0-liter diesel unit (173PS/350 Nm). Both the engines offer a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine offers a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).  The Jeep Compass offers a 4×4 drivetrain with the diesel engine. It seems limited to the Limited and Limited Plus variants only. The Mileage claimed is 14.1kmpl with the petrol engine and 17.1kmpl with the diesel engine. The 4×4 diesel variants give a lower mileage of 16.3kmpl. The other features which make the Jeep attractive is a panoramic sunroof, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 18-inch wheels. The Jeep is equipped with safety measures like a Dual front airbag, ABS with EBD, traction control, ESP and ISOFIX child seat and is standard across all its variants. The chief rivals are Hyundai Tucson, Mahindra XUV500, the upcoming Tata Harrier SUV.

Toyota Innova Crysta

Innova has never seen this type of price. But Innova Crysta is more stylish, comes loaded with value-added features like 4.2-inch TFT screen, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and lounge lighting, more muscular design in comparison to all Innova’s Models.
