Nokia’s First Android smartphone Nokia 6

After a long vacation, Nokia has finally made a comeback with its all-new Nokia 6 Android smartphone in India under HMD Global. Nokia is known for having brought some of the best mobile handsets in the beginning era of mobile phones, and satisfied users with its maleficent services. But, as we all know that hard time comes for everyone, Nokia too was facing some bad days during its collaboration with Microsoft to manufacture Windows based devices. After that, the company, for some time, disappeared from the smartphone market which led people to believe that the Nokia reign was over.

But now, the company has made an aggressive comeback with the launch of its latest Nokia 6 Android phone, which will be based on Android platform. The company is also planning to introduce some more Android phones backed by the same old reliability later this year. For now, the people across the country are eagerly waiting for the Nokia 6 phone, which is scheduled to go on next sale on 21st September, 2017 on Amazon. Let’s discuss the features of Nokia’s new Android based mobile phone and how it will compete against other smartphones in the market.

The handset is blessed with an amazing design which looks gorgeous and feels premium. The home button and backlit capacitive keys are placed just below the screen. The power and volume keys, available on the right side, are completely made out of metal. Protected by a 2.5D glass on the top, it features soft and fair curves to the edges of its display. A fingerprint scanner is also mounted along with the home button at the bottom of the display.

The phone body is created from precision-milled aluminium. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also provided by the company along with a Micro-USB slot instead of the trending USB Type-C socket. The smartphone also packs dual speakers along with a dedicated smart amplifier (TFA9891), which according to the company is capable of delivering Dolby Atmos environment. Nokia 6 is available in three colour variants: Matte Black, Silver, and Tempered Blue. The size (dimensions) of the phone is 154 x 75.8 x 7.85mm and it weighs around 167 gms. The back camera is slightly above the surface, creating a bump of about 0.5mm.

The Nokia Android phone features a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS LCD touch display with a resolution of 1920X1080 pixels, 403 ppi pixel density and 16:9 ratio. The display of Nokia 6 is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass, which justifies the label ‘built to last.’ The display is equipped with bright and broad colour reproduction and wide viewing angles. The Sunlight readability feature makes it easy to use the phone even in daylight. The phone display is capable of providing 450 nits brightness.

Nokia 6: Camera

The Nokia 6 smartphone comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera along with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and 1.0um pixel density. We can see that despite having a great camera in this price segment, the pixel density of the rear camera is a bit less than the other popular flagship smartphones, which may make it difficult to capture a fair amount of light. The fans still do not need to stress out because the back camera also packs f/2.0 aperture along with dual tone flash, which will help the phone in that scenario. The pictures taken by the rear camera are sharp and clear enough with natural colour production.

An 8-megapixel autofocus front shooter is also provided by the company along with a pixel density of 1.12um and f/2.0 aperture in the new Nokia 6 phone. The company claims an 84-degree field of view for the front camera, which makes it a fairly high resolution and wide aperture camera to take excellent selfies. Apart from it, the company is also touting automatic scene recognition and an exclusive camera app for its Nokia 6 phone.

The phone also provides support for all major cloud applications like Google Drive, Dropbox and more. Since it packs a good enough processor with 3GB RAM and Adreno 505 graphics, users should be able to run all the major applications and games smoothly using this device.
