The US-based hotel chain Starwood Hotels & Resorts is aiming to establish five new flagship properties in India in 2016. And, this would be the part of its aggressive expansion of footprint in South Asia. W Retreat & Spa in Goa, Westin Kolkata, Westin Pushkar Resort and Spa in Rajasthan, Aloft in Delhi Aerocity and Aloft in Goa are the hotels that will be opened in 2016 by the company.

Mr. Dilip Puri, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Managing Director India and Regional Vice President (South Asia) stated,

“ Our growth continues to be fuelled by strong domestic demand for quality and branded accommodations in Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets. India is already Starwood’s fourth largest market in terms if a number of hotels and will soon be its third after the US and China. We are planning to open five new properties this year in India”.

2015 was a favourable phase for the company and it’s hoping for a similar kind of success this year as well with the planning to open 8 to 10 hotels in South Asia. Since January 2015, Starwood Hotels has launched nine hotels in the region and signed deals for 16 new ones.

For a long time, Starwood Hotels has gained tremendous success, transforming independent and branded hotels in its portfolio in 2015. Currently, the 54 properties are running in South Asia with another 34 under development.
