Definitely, the Indian automobile segment witnessed the heavy downfall in its sales number in December last year due to demonetization of high-value banknotes. However, over the passage of time, the cash crunch with Indian masses has almost resolved but it couldn’t boost the sales again as much as the manufacturers expected. As experts suggest, it might take a quarter to normalise again.

According to reports available on various media sources, the sales rate of automobile sector in India declined by about 18% after demonetization kicked in. Leading homegrown manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Mahindra had also individually reported a heavy dip in sales in November. Later on, the retailers had mentioned a marginal sales growth in the next months compared to the previous one, thanks to the wide range of new as well updated products that didn’t let miss any chances to lure the buyers in spite of cash crunch.

The starting era of 2017 sounds calamity as the auto majors recorded good footfalls towards their dealerships. Yet again, it’s Maruti Suzuki who leads the market by retailing 22998 units of merely Alto in January.
