Make up your budget which can be served as a price bracket. You should keep yourself firm over that and look for no other vehicle which fall outside your budget.

2. Brand Image in the country

The brand image of any car company decides its price. Established brands enjoy the benefits of high resale value while some low rated brands ask less for the same. There are some cars which works very smooth and has very good maintenance and mileage record but doesn’t have a good brand name. These factors arise when one starts driving the car for long which is not a possible task to perform before purchase. Hence, rely over good brands to insure peace of mind.

3. Check the Mechanicals

The mechanicals of a car should be checked perfectly. Afterall, this is the part which is going to make you travel for long. Check for the proper functioning of doors, boot and hood. If any of the part makes unfamiliar or cracking sound, that part might be a repaired one. Minor wear and tears can be neglected but any physically distorted portion should be marked under cons. If the hood is not getting shut at once, it is a sign of major accident in past. Always get the old car checked by your mechanic so that you won’t be fooling yourself.

4. Test Drive the car

This is very important. Do not purchase a second hand product without trying it. This will also allow you to check for some cracking or unfamiliar noise coming from either car’s chassis or body. Also check the engine sound, it should work smoothly without creating distorted and/or in-cognizant vox.

5. Proper Paper work

With the increased crime rate, some imosters are roaming around with stolen vehicles and they try to sell the vehicle at a non digestible low price. One should stay away from such offers. Also check for the original papers of the car and get them verified by RTO officials for authenticity. It is better to purchase a car directly from its owner rather than purchasing it from a local dealer or broker. However, there are few good second hand cars available which can be found by a little research.

6. Bargain is good

Try to pull the seller down on price issue. Make him/her feel that you are paying right amount for the vehicle. You may never know what kind of minor repairs or up-gradations you will be carrying out on that vehicle, as these expenses should also fit under your designed budget.
