One of the well-known brands in the hospitality sector, Oyo Rooms, which operates a number of budget hotels?is now planning to enter the food technology venture with Oyo Cafe. Apart from it, the company is also looking for the housekeeping service to offer its customers a better experience during their visit to India.

For providing delicious food?and beverages?in the Oyo Cafe to their customers that will sell under its own brand, the company will appoint its partner hotels’ kitchen.

Mr. Maninder Gulati, head of strategy and corporate development at Oyo stated,

“As in any food business, we noticed that our partner hotels’ kitchen has excess inventory. So, the idea is, if we can utilise that and use food tech platforms like Zomato or Swiggy to distribute that food, then that’s a revenue generation potential for our partner”.

Oyo has been approaching in unbranded, small hotels with attractive minimum guarantee deals that ensures them revenues. The list of hotel rooms is then being sold at a discounted price to get new customers. On the other hand, on-demand housekeeping service, Oyo care that facilitates cleanup for the room as per the customers need.

In this sector, there are many competitors of Oyo, such as Zen Rooms, Zip Rooms, Tiger Global-backed Zo Rooms, Treebo Hotels, Vista Rooms, FabHotels, Wudstay and RoomOnCall.

Besides these, online travel companies MakeMyTrip has come up with its own brand of budget room with the Value+. And, Goibibo has already launched its own platform GoStays, to facilitate booking budget accommodation in September.
