Mercedes-Benz introduced the 4th generation variant, A-class in Amsterdam in February 2018. This model will take the place of existing 3rd-gen variant, 2012 model. The new A-Class model will launch in June 2018 but the company has not given any information about India launch yet. The Mercedes-Benz A-class will obtain a sedan comrade during this time and make a lot of meaning for the company to introduce the three-box hatchback in India.

The new hatchback is updated considering dimensions as it becomes 120mm longer and 16mm wider as compared to the foregone model. The wheelbase of the new A-class also increased by 30mm and now touches 2729mm. Considering the design, the new hatchback obtains an inverted front grille in relation to new headlamps which are thinner than the old model. The front bumper is also updated and gets larger air dam. The character lines are now more visible and sharp on the bonnet as compared to the previous model and do not merge with the headlights as the previous variant.

The new hatchback is wider from the rear side than the old model. The globular shape of tail lamps doesn’t see on the new model as it takes smooth Porsche-like tail lamps. The rear bumper now appears more fleshy and obtains reflector elements in relation to a revised lower lip. The windscreen shape of the rear is also revised and the boot lid gets wideness for comfortable boot access. The roofline and side profile of the new hatchback is similar to the old model. Apart from this, few changes in character line and new 19-inch alloys setup are all new in the latest model as compared to the old one.

Inside the cabin, it gets enhanced dimensions in more space with an inclusion of 29 litres in luggage carrying space.

Concerning design, it has a noteworthy change in the dual screen setup which has revised the cowled instrument cluster and free-floating infotainment screen. The central console of the hatchback is also revised and now gets AC controls and a storage bay.

The A-class hatchback will get three engine options including two petrol and one diesel as compared to the previous model’s two engine comprising one petrol and diesel.

The new hatchback obtains the MBUX infotainment system that takes place the existing infotainment system which includes a 20 CD changer and an 8-inch infotainment screen. Various driver assistance systems such as emergency stop assist, distance assist, active brake assist, and active lane change assist are attached which are not available in the previous model. For safety, the new hatchback obtains ‘Pre-Safe Plus’ that can make the onboard system and predict imminent rear collision as well.
