In today’s section, we have listed one such recipe of special sweet, Tilachi Vadi for Sankranti that can be easily prepared at home.

Tilachi Vadi or Tilgur consists of sesame seeds (til) and jaggery (Gur) and generally on Makar Sankranti, dishes that are made with both these ingredients are distributed among family members and friends?. As they keep warm during the winter season and also help restore energy and vigor. So, let’s take a look over the recipe of this delicious dessert and enjoy your festival by preparing it.

Here is a step by step recipe of Tilachi Vada:

Servings- 16

Required ingredients for the jaggery syrup

  • 3/4 cup of Jaggery (cut into small pieces)
  • 1-1/2 tbsp of Water
  • 1/2 tsp of Ghee

Required ingredients for the seasame mixture

  • 1/2 cup of roasted and ground Sesame Seeds (til)
  • 1/4 cup roasted Dry Coconut (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 cup of roasted Peanuts (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp of Cardamom Powder
  • 1/8 tsp of Nutmeg Powder (Jaiphal)
  • A tiny pinch of Salt

To make the Til Vadi

  • Add the jaggery and water in a bowl. Heat it on the low flame, till the jaggery melts evenly.
  • Now, add ghee and stir well, until it combines properly. When you see tiny bubbles in the jaggery syrup, switch off the flame.
  • After that, take another bowl, add the sesame seeds, coconut and peanut mixture and combine them quickly.
  • Add this mixture to the jaggery syrup and stir properly to combine.
  • Now, pour the mixture into the greased tray and flatten it by using a stainless steel spatula or the back of a spoon.
  • If you are left with dry shredded coconut, then sprinkle them and pat with the same so they adhere to the surface.
  • With the help of a knife, make the cuts in the mixture, it’s your choice to cut into squares or diamond shapes.
  • Let cool for a minimum of 15 minutes and after that, you can separate the Til Vadis.
