One of the world’s largest hotel companies, Carlson Rezidor blew the news about the planning of 170 properties in India within the next five years, by targeting Northern, Southern and Western regions of the country. Currently, 71 hotels are running and 41 are in under process across 45 cities, including 14 state capitals.

Carlson Rezidor has an expanding portfolio running more than 1,370 hotels around 110 countries and territories. Recently, the group has launched its new hotel brand named as “Radisson Red” in India, acquires a key market in which Carlson Rezidor is well established as the No.1 international operator by a number of properties.

In October 2014, the first hotel of Radisson Red was signed in China and next in Shenyang Hunnan, part of twin hotel development that includes Radisson Blu Shenyang is decided to open in 2016. Talking about India, the hotel will be opened in the main cities such as, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow, and Mumbai including leisure and religious destinations like Goa, Jaipur, Katra (J&K), Shirdi and Tirupati. Overall, the group is looking for around 60 Radisson Red Hotels worldwide by 2020.

Mr. Raj Rana, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group (South Asia) stated,

“The launch of this upscale lifestyle elects brand is part of Carlson Rezidor’s aggressive expansion plans for India, which are aimed at extending the Group’s lead in a country, where it currently has 71 hotels in operation”.

He further commented,

“Domestic travel is growing and international arrivals are on the increase. This is a market that is prime for our Radisson Red brand, which is positioned to address the needs of savvy travellers while meeting the expectations of bottom line-focused owners”.
